With more years on the race track than I’ve had birthday’s, driver of the #55 Dunkin Donuts machine, Mark Wertz takes a few moments out of his busy schedule to sit down with us and chat about everything from the start of his racing career to his favorite TV show. Mark Wertz a Virginia Beach native is a prime example of the definition weekend warrior when it comes to racing. The man has a lot on his plate, a full-time production planner at Huntington Ingals, a full-time father, as well as being in a committed relationship.

Collin Brown Looking For More Seat Time in 2014

CB6Newport News, VA – From Late Model Stock Car to the Legends division, all drivers are welcomed with open arms to the office of The Weekly Racer! This week we feature a driver who impressed me with his S.M.A.R.T Goals. This my friends the one things that stuck with me through college  and to see this man applying such knowledge towards his racing career was great to see. For those who may not know, a SMART goal is something thought out, planned, something you can measure and accomplish in a timely manner, of course some people have different definitions for the term. Let me take a moment to introduce you to this weeks driver coming to us from Yorktown, Virginia, Mr. Collin Brown.

Brenden “Butterbean” Queen Ready To Hit The Asphalt.

2Chesapeake, VA — For the second week in a row we have featured a young driver who is working towards their dream of one day racing in the big leagues of motor sports! Brenden Queen aka “Butterbean” is a junior in high school who will be returning to Langley Speedway this year for his sophomore season in the Late Model Stock Car division. Brenden ended up finishing 8th in points, only 123 points back from track champion C. E. Falk. Queen’s 2013 top 10 finish which also helped him earn Rookie of the Year honors. “It felt so great to accomplish our main goal, Brenden told me about winning Rookie of the Year. ”Running up front was just a plus to everything we could have asked for.”

Though Queen is coming off his rookie season in LMSC, Brenden has been racing since he was seven years old. Going 3 for 3 with back-to-back-to-back championships, and collecting 31 wins running karts on dirt! At such a young age it pretty much seemed like Brenden was supposed to be behind the wheel. Things did not stop there of course, next for Brenden was Arena Racing. For those who may not know what that is, these are for the lack of a longer description go-karts with suspension and a fiberglass body running on a tiny, high banked aluminum track inside an indoor stadium! New pages coming soon!

Well guys and gals! Tomorrow is the release of another new driver to The Driver series. I really like this weeks post. It will certainly be an eye opener in more ways than one. This driver will break more than just one milestone for the blog. Just working on some final touches, looking to have it posted by noon tomorrow!

I also wanted to announce a mini story to the blog! Working on some details but I really want to right a short story around the racing community. Once I get more details ironed out I will be sure to post them. The way I will work this out is every so often, possibly the weeks between the driver series, a new chapter of the story.

This is also something new to me. I have written small stories for personal use and then of course educational purposes! I’m in the process of laying characters, plots and all that jazz. PLEASE if you have any constructive criticism or things you like to see out of a blog let me know. I would love the input! Always welcome to leave a comment bellow!
