I was born and raised in Yorktown, VA before the military took me away to see different parts of the country. I now reside in Winston-Salem, NC which is a hotbed for short track racing and home of the famous Bowman Gray Stadium.
Before moving away, I spent every Saturday night at Langley Speedway in Hampton, VA. Langley is where I fell in love with short track racing. I started out in 1992 as a crew member on a Pure Stock car. Through the years, I helped on Grand Stock, Super Streets, Legends and Late Models. I had a short and unsuccessful career as a driver. I had the opportunity to race UCAR, Legends, dirt Mini Stock and even lawnmowers (only race win I ever had). Some of the biggest pleasures in racing has been working on and taking my son racing. Since living in North Carolina, he has raced Quarter Midgets at Bobby Labonte’s North Carolina Quarter Midget Association and raced Winged Outlaws and the famous Millbridge Speedway.
Living in the Piedmont area of North Carolina, I can be at 10 different race tracks with less than two-hour drive. Even though I have so many options at my disposal, I still call Bowman Gray Stadium my home track and look forward to the opportunity to provide local coverage from The Madhouse. Unlike the top tier divisions of our sport where attendance has been down, you can still find 13,000 of your closest neighbors packing the stadium each and every Saturday night.
When I’m not watching racing, I spend my time as an NCAA Wrestling Official, hanging out with my wife and two kids and being their unpaid Uber driver to travel volleyball and baseball tournaments.
