Ryan Matthews Continues INEX Legend Win Streak at Langley Speedway; Wyatt Philyaw Comes Out of Physical Bando Race the Winner

Hampton, VA – After picking up a nail biter win last week, Ryan Matthews was the fastest of seventeen qualifiers earlier in the afternoon Saturday picking up the pole for the INEX Legends division running a 17.945. Cameron Bolin, Tyler Lester, Matt Dail, and Devon Courtney rounded out the top five. Ryan Matthews jumped out to an early lead as Matt Dail, Cameron Bolin, Tyler Lester, and Colby Flowers rounded out your top five.

As the battle for fifth place heated up, Connor Jones spun around on the front stretch to bring out the first of a handful of cautions throughout the race. The restart would come and Ryan Matthews would pull away from the field once again leaving Matt Dail to do battle with Spencer Saunders for the second position. Saunders would eventually make his way around Matt Dail for second as the caution came out again, this time for Devon Courtney going around in turn two.

Lap seventeen saw another caution as Connor Jones and Colby Flowers got tangled up on the backstretch, which caused Flowers to exit the race. With only five laps to go, Ryan Matthews put a car length gap between himself and the top five as they began to battle for second. Coming to the checkered flag, Ryan Matthews would lead every lap and win his second straight race this season. Spencer Saunders, Matt Dail, Tyler Lester, and Jake Tretow rounded out your top five.

Ryley Music captured the pole for the Cycle City Bandoleros division with a time of 20.973. Layton Harrison, Wyatt Philyaw, Logan Clark, and Jacob Derrick rounded out the starting five. Only three laps would be completed before the first caution occurred as Kaleb Bradley spun going into turn one. The second caution of the night would come after Aaliyah Paynter and Laney Meggs made contact on the front stretch and Paynter went for a spin.

At the halfway point of the race, it was Ryley Music holding a slim lead over Layton Harrison and Wyatt Philyaw. A big wreck happened in turn one involving Jacob Derrick, Kaleb Bradley, Layton Harrison, and Laney Meggs. As the race was about to restart out of four, Wyatt Philyaw got into the back of leader Ryley Music sending his car around. Both were sent to the rear handing the lead over to Whitney Meggs.

As the white flag flew, Alex Meggs (No. 18) dives under and makes contact with Whitney Meggs (No. 22) causing a big wreck with Whitney getting hit hard by Laney Meggs (No. 92) in the left front suspension. She immediately showed signs she was okay and got out of her car. Ryley Music was also involved ultimately ending his night. Coming to the checkered flag, Wyatt Philyaw and Alex Meggs made contact coming out of turn four with Philyaw coming away with the win. Logan Clark, Alex Meggs, Aaliyah Paynter, and Whitney Meggs round our your top five finishers.
