Dillon Spain Wins in Front of Big Field at Langley Speedway

Hampton, VA – The Cycle City Corp Legends continued their good car count on Saturday night with seventeen cars showing up. Tommy Jackson Jr, Sparky West, and Dillon Spain all made their first trip back to Larry King Law’s Langley Speedway after taking heavy damage on opening night.

Legends rookie Cody Carlton stayed hot laying down an 18.127-second lap for the pole with points leader Brian May missing the top spot by just .005. On lap seven a big pile up happened involving multiple cars, ending the night for a few drivers. Carlton kept the lead until after the second caution of the race involving him and Spencer Saunders which ended Carlton’s night.

Off the restart, Spain took the lead for ten laps until Saunders took it back on lap 18. After taking the green flag both drivers raced hard for the win, exchanging the lead several times almost like they were on a dirt track. Coming to the checkers Spain went deep into turn three making contact and send Saunders around and grabbing the win. Saunders would end up in 6th place.

In the Cycle City Corp Bandoleros, Jacob Putman picked up his second win of the year at Langley after a clean race up front with Autumn Weaver. Both drivers are also heading down to Charlotte Motor Speedway to take on the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout on their 1/5th-mile track. Further back in the field there was some beating and banging out on the track leading to some frustrated drivers after the race but cooler heads eventually prevailed.

Tyler Baker earned his second victory in a row as well as the season this past weekend in the Bojangle Enurdos. Bakers also took the points lead from defending Langley & East Carolina champion, Richard Quinn, by just three points. Austin Davis was the lucky one start on the pole position as the Eduro drivers immediatly pull pills for starting order. Did not take long for Baker to work his way up to the front and that is where he would stay for most of the 30-lap feature.

Richard Ellis, who alos competes in the Truck division, stayed hot on Bakers trails for most of the night beore his night ended suddenly – mechanical problems plauged the #41 Honda who needed a push off the track just before one of the races restarts. Once the feature got back under way, sans Ellis, Rodney Davis was on the charge for hte race lead. He would pull within about two car lengths before running out of laps. Hiby, Masingo, A. Davis would round out the top five finishers.
