Double Header Weekend – Two Tracks in Two States
Hampton, VA – That’s right! Two tracks, in two nights, in two different states! This weekend The Weekly Racer will be heading out to Southside Speedway located in Midlothian, Va on Friday night for First Responders Night then we will head down south Saturday morning to East Carolina Motor Speedway for Monster Energy 260, complete with a fireworks display off the track.
Friday night coverage will begin approx. at 6:00 PM EDT or as soon as we arrive depending on the traffic situation. Six divisions will be on tap Friday night for a total of 165 action packed laps! Our goal, to being you along for all 165 of them – including a LIVE stream of the Late Model race high on top of the spotter stand for the first time since we have been covering Southside! Racing in the INEX Legend division is sure to be one to watch after a wild night out last time which saw plenty of cars spun and multiple late race restarts, where the leader coming to the green flag hardly made it around to see turn three. Matt Dail comes into the night as the defending race winner, can he make it two in a row?
Our LIVE feed for the Late Model race plans to kick off right as they start to make there way out on the track to grid. This will be available to those who follow us on our Facebook Page <- Click the link here to head over there and clikc the LIKE button. We will of course have all of the other divisions covered on our Twitter Feed <- Please click this link to head over and give us a Follow and stay up to date with all of your favorite races from Southside!
Gates will open for spectators at 6:00 PM EDT with a pre-race meet and greet scheduled for 6:15 PM and racing set to get under away approx. 7:30 PM. Adult ticket prices are just $15 – Sr./Military $12 – Children 6-11 $8 and those younf race fans 5 and under are admitted FREE!
Because six divisions just isnt enough for us here at The Weekly Racer, we will then pack our things back up and head down south to the East Carolina Motor Speedway to cover Twin 40’s for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Models. With Saturday nights twin features offering up double the chance at points in what I am being told will be a full field (by NASCAR rules meaning 18+ cars start) 5 of the top 30 drivers in the nation will be in attendance, including National points leader Matt Bowling. Not enough of a reason to come out? How about a four way, thirty-seven point battle for the top spot in the North Carolina state points between Michael Fose (352), Tyler Matthews (351), Brenden Queen (344), and Louis White (315) who are all expected to be there. Oh and one more thing I forgot to mention, how about the race for the 2016 track championship where Queen and White are currently tied at the top of the leader board with 316 points each.
Seven support classes – Bandos, UCAR, Super Streets, Street Stocks, Super Trucks, Bombers, and the Southern Ground Pounders, who will be making their return to ECMS – will also take to the track in an action packed night at the race track. You thought it was going to be a hot one outside! Wait till these drivers take to the speedway all fighting for that check and trophy!
Pit Gates open at 2:00 PM – Grandstands Open at 3:00 PM – Green Flag set to wave at 7:00 PM. Admission for adults just $12. Seniors/Military are $10, Children 7-17 are $8 and those 6 and under are FREE! Make sure to follow along again on our Twitter feed @theweeklyracer
