CARS Tour Event Preview powered by KRC Power Steering: Do The Dew 200 pres. by CCC&TI – Tri-County Motor Speedway

CARSTour1MOORESVILLE, NC – After getting rained out on May 21st the CARS Tour and its competitors will turn their attention to the often forgot about Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, NC. Despite the track just hosting special events throughout the year, it is one of the best races on the 10 race schedule for the CARS Tour. The racing surface easily has three grooves of racing making for two and three wide battles all race long. It doesn’t take long for those battles to develop in a hurry either; at just 100 laps and 40 miles in distance the Do The Dew 200 presented by CCC&TI is the shortest race on the 2016 schedule. With limited track time for drivers and teams to test in preparation for this weekend’s event the door is wide open for a first time winner to breakthrough in a big way, just as Super Late Model winner Quin Houff did a year ago.

QUOTES:
Jones Appreciates the Uncertainty of Tri County:

Lucas Jones is on his second full season campaign on the CARS Tour and has developed as a solid contender as of late. He and his family owned team, not working with the budget of some of the bigger operations, always brings a quality piece to the track. One equalizer Jones feels could be to advantage this weekend is the amount of limited track time his competition will have around the 4/10 mile track. The uncertainty of what’s expected at the green track by both Jones and others is something the youngster is looking forward to.

“The one thing I really like about Tri-County is the door-to-door racing that happens there, and with the race being only 100 laps you have to be on your game from the start. Last year was the first time I’ve ever raced there, so to be going there this weekend with some experience I think will go a long ways. We’ve got a new LFR car we are working with and we’ve got great support from the folks at LFR at the track. I really feel this weekend could be our best run yet; I’m looking forward to getting back behind the seat after several weeks off.” #16 Lucas Jones – Kenny’s Components Chevy Super Late Model

Hometown in Hudson:

Thomas Beane can hear when there is a car at Tri-County Motor Speedway. The Hudson, North Carolina native who recently graduated from UNC-Charlotte has had this date circled on his calendar all season long. After a rough night at the last CARS event in Hickory, Beane and family owned team are all in on his hometown race this weekend. Lots of family, friends, and students from CCC&TI, where Beane was a former student, will be in attendance to see what the hometown kid can do.

“We had a rough outing last time out at Hickory, so for our next race to be at my home track of Tri-County, it couldn’t come at a better time. It’s a track with lots of character that you can really race three wide all around the place. We’ve been able to test and I think we’ll have a pretty good piece to work with when we unload on Saturday. It’s pretty cool to see the folks with CCC&TI involved with this race and involved with the CARS Tour. As a former student there, it was the perfect place to adjust to college life, and really decide what I wanted to do with my future before eventually graduating from UNC-Charlotte a few weeks ago.” – #31 Thomas Beane – #31 Price’s Roofing Ford Late Model Stock Car

A Technical Relationship in Caldwell County:

The past three years, dating back to the CARS Pro Cup Series days, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute has partnered with the series at Tri-County to market the school and what it has to offer students within the community. This season is no different as students will tour the pit area on Friday leading up to the race, and then be active in pre-race and midway activities prior to the green flag.

“Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute is pleased to once again be working with the CARS Tour for the third year in a row. The CARS Tour always puts on a great racing show for the fans and is a great event for us to be involved in. This year having Thomas Beane in the field, a CCC&TI alumni who just finished up his education at UNCC, is something we are excited about and will be cheering for him to make us proud.” – Roy Jennings – Director of Automotive System Technology-Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute
