2015 Thanksgiving All-Star Race At SNMP Shaping Up To Be A True Classic
It’s back! The Thanksgiving All-Star Classic has made its way back to the forefront of our minds – now that we have all woken up from our turkey-induced comas! Every year drivers from all over the region look forward to pulling into Southern National Motorsport Park in Kenly, North Carolina looking to take home that Thanksgiving hardware. Also it is a way to almost say good buy to the 2015 race season for the NWAAS Late Model Stock Cars.
From what I have heard the three-day event is shaping up to be a true classic, something you will remember forever! The schedule is stacked with just about every division of racing the east coast has to offer, the only thing we are missing is a road course – trust me I have a this feeling that between new SNMP Promoter John Vick and part owner Michael Diaz, they have already tried to come up with a way to add that! Street Stocks, UCAR, Limited, Late Model Stocks, Supers! You want to know what the best part is? That’s not even all that’s racing! A full schedule of the weekend’s events will be posted below. Mind you they are subject to change.
Just like any “post season” race, this event comes with more than just bragging rights! With the help of the track and local business’ stepping up to the plate and showing their support for local short track racing, there are quite a few bonuses to be had this weekend. Quality Pre-Owned out of Wilson, North Carolina has come on board to sponsor the pole award for seven out of the ten divisions running this weekend. INSCO, a janitorial supply company out of Wilson, North Carolina, will sponsor Saturday night’s 30 lap U-CAR feature race – paying $750 to win and as much as $80 to start! Bojangles – who loves to be apart of short track racing up and down the east coast – as stepped up to not only to sponsor the Limited Late Model race but the Mini Stock race as well. Like I said, plenty of money to be had this weekend.
Think it stops there? No it does not! In what should be a stacked LMSC field, Southern National has put together a $2,000 half way bonus! Think drivers are going to sit back and bide there time waiting to make things happen in the second half? Yea, throw that ideology out the window this weekend! Good on ya Southern National, talk about some hard racing for 200 laps! Going to be very interesting to watch folks as Tommy Lemons, Jr has had a very strong run during this post season. You would be a fool to rule out Brenden Queen, the young driver from Langley Speedway, who proved last week at Myrtle Beach he can hang with the rest just like anyone else! Of course you cannot rule out three time National Champion Lee Pulliam. Though he has yet to cross this off his bucket list, the man is a threat to win at ANY track they pull the hauler into!
Of course, The Weekly Racer will be there for you if you cannon make it out to one of these action packed nights of racing! As always you are invited to join us on our Twitter feed – @theweeklyracer – for LIVE updates throughout the weekend! Whether your at the track or at work, we also encourage you chime in. Take a picture of where you are sitting, tweet us some action shots as you get them, we love here from our followers. With ten races on the schedule and just one of me, unfortunately we will not be able to cover everything. We will have a full break down posted later of what we plan to cover. Now, if you are planning on coming to the track, the ticket prices can be found just bellow here, and the full schedule can be found just two paragraphs above this one.
