NWAAS: Late Model Champion To Be Crowned At Langley Speedway – LIVE on Twitter @theweeklyracer
Hampton, VA – Late Model Stock Car racing will return to the flat track of Langley Speedway one final time this season as a champion will be crowned after a 125-lap feature. Five other divisions will fire up their engines in support of the Late Models, four divisions (Super Street, Legends, Bando, Pro Six) will also look to crown champions in their last race of the 2015 season.
Danny Edwards, Jr enters the weekend just ten points ahead of younger brother Greg Edwards as the two battle to add another Langley Speedway title to their name. Both drivers enter the final race of the season with six wins a piece and both having their fair share of ups and downs. Edwards earlier in the week told the Daily Press, “It’s going to take a bad break for Danny not to win and I don’t want him to go out that way. I’d like to go out and win the pole, lead every lap and make him race for the championship, but I don’t wish him any bad luck. Sometimes funny things happen in the last race though.”
With each position worth just one point on the track, Greg Edwards is going to need the help of a solid crowd of Late Models, and some unfortunate turns of events for his older brother. Earlier in the week we crunched some numbers an UNOFFICIAL came up with the sure fire way that Greg Edwards wins the title. Assuming that a tie break is done by most wins, then most second place, then most third place finishes, Greg Edwards is going to need to win tonights race with Edwards, Jr finishing no better than eleventh.
Tonights program ultimately kicks off at 2:00 PM when practice gets underway. The evenings complete schedule can be found bellow. LIVE coverage of the nights action kicks of at 4:30 EDT and can be seen on our Twitter page (@theweeklyracer). We will have your starting five for the Pro 6, Super Streets, Legends, and Modified’s, then switch over to both timed laps for the LMSC. We will have you covered for four races tonight when the green flag drops – Pro Six, Legends, Mods, and Late Models! Make sure you tune in and if you are at the track make sure you Tweet us your seats!
In addition to the Late Models, three of Langley’s support divisions will be crowing champions as well. Zach Lightfoot, with a 16 point lead over Bradley Kilby, pretty much just has to start the race and make it to end to lock up his second championship in a row at Langley Speedway. Bobby Hall & Landon Florian enter the weekend in the tightest battle of the night with just one point separating the two. All Hall needs to do is finish ahead of Florian no matter where they are in the track. Chris Hildebrand & Brian May look to settle a six point difference in just 25-laps. Hildebrand looking to stay out of trouble and within six positions of May this weekend in hopes of locking up his very first Langley Speedway track championship. Last but not least, the Super Street division, where the points leader honestly could probably sit this one out and still win! Marchetti comes into the weekend holding a 19 point lead over teammate Landon Abbott. Lets just say it would take a very large car count and a very large mechanical failure to keep this title from Reno.
