South Boston Season Opener Put On Hold Thanks To Mother Nature
SOUTH BOSTON, VA…….Due to the forecast changing overnight and persistent rain showers throughout today South Boston Speedway officials have canceled today’s scheduled season opening Danville Toyota NASCAR Whelen Twin 100’s racing program.
South Boston Speedway builds enough races in their racing schedule to compensate for rain. Once the track has met their minimum number of races they will then look at rescheduling rain canceled events.
South Boston Speedway will now open its 2015 season on Saturday, March 21, with the NASCAR Late Model 100 racing program, which will have an afternoon starting time of 2 p.m.
All five of South Boston Speedway’s racing divisions will be featured in the March 21 event, which will be headlined by a 100-lap race for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division.
The six-event program will include twin races for the Limited Sportsman Division as well as races for the track’s Budweiser Pure Stock Division, Hornets Division and Modified Division.
Registration and pit gates will open at 9 a.m. with practice going from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Grandstand gates will open at noon and qualifying time trials will get underway at 12:30 p.m. The first of the day’s six races will get the green flag at 2 p.m.
Adult admission is $10 with kids ages six and under admitted free.
