2015 NASCAR K&N Series East Schedule Unveiled

NASCAR has FINALLY released the schedule for their “minor league” – now when I say minor I am more referring to the architecture of baseball – Touring Division that helps feed some of the drivers we see in the top three divisions of the sport. I am sure that Developmental Series is more of an appropriate name for this kind of racing but for me it mimics the structure of the minor league system that the MLB uses.
Yesterday, NASCAR released both East & West schedules for the K&N Pro Series and we find some new destinations for this series as well. Because we are on the east coast and the fact that we have never been out to the west coast, we are going to stay focused here at home!
“The NASCAR K&N Pro Series has become the premiere training ground for our sport, and the diversity of the 2015 schedules will provide great challenges for the next generation of drivers,” said George Silbermann, NASCAR vice president for regional and touring series. “We are ecstatic that Motordrome Speedway has joined the K&N Pro Series East schedule…”
At the end of the day the series has 14 dates at 13 different tracks running through 11 different states. Returning to the schedule this year is Langley Speedway in Hampton, VA. A race that we dabbled in covering last year but will certainly work on providing a more extensive coverage of behind the scenes, talking with the drivers, and possible providing LIVE coverage.
Iowa Speedway as returned to the schedule for there double feature that combines the East & West cars. If you are not familiar with this both divisions will practice, qualify, and race at the same time. Only difference is your points will only affect the particular division you are running in. Both dates 5/16 & 7/31 are companion dates with the XFINITY series.
Making there very first appearance on the tours schedule is the half mile banked track located in Smithton, Pennsylvania that goes by the name of Motordome Speedway – don’t let the name fool you, it’s not an indoor track, however I feel that would be pretty sweet. The August 15th date not only marks the first time to the speedway, but the first time since 2012 the series has had an event in the state.
Five times this year the K&N series will run events along side of the Sprint Cup Series at Bristol Motor Speedway (April 18), Richmond International Raceway (April 24), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (July 17), Watkins Glen International (Aug. 7) and Dover International Speedway (Oct. 2).
