Lucama, NC – The post season is all but official upon those in the Late Model Stock Car industry as teams prepare to make the journey to Martinsville Speedway this week to test their rides for the October 4th & 5th MDCU 300. That is not the only post season race these drivers will have the opportunity to attend and news just broke that one of these events have been slightly modified. Sothern National Motorsports Park, nestled in beautiful Lucama, North Carolina has hosted a Thanksgiving themed race for the past few years dubbed The Thanksgiving All-Star Classic – a multi division race held over a three day weekend.

This year Michael Diaz and Jerry Brown have decided to do things a little different. The 200 lap Late Model Stock Car race that has been the headliner division has been moved to its very own three day weekend. November 7th will be open for all teams to practice, qualifying and heat races to be run Saturday November 8th, with the big finale the 200 lap Late Model race that Sunday November 9th. The Thanksgiving All-Star classic will still be held November 28th through the 30th.

The new Autumn classic will be held just one month after teams have finished with the circus that is Martinsville. Southern National co-owner Mike Diaz told Race22.com, “I’m trying to make things a little easier on the Late Model teams. I think moving the race enables all the Late Model teams to participate in all the big races and breath a little.” (Race22.com :: Autumn Classic Headlines Busy November at Southern National). The new 200 lap Autumn Classic will also be held two weeks prior to the big Myrtle Beach 200 lap race being held in November as well.
