Justin Carroll: Building a Name for Himself

Carroll1 One thing my parents always taught me growing up is if you want something bad enough then you bust your ass working for it. Our parents already had one thing in common by picking a great first name for their son’s, and I may be a little biased but hey it is my blog! After talking with Justin I knew right off the bat he must have been raised the same way I was; “If you want something bad enough no sense in sitting around hopping someone will give it to you.” He started helping out at a local snow cone shop to raise any money he could to buy his own race car. By the age of 15 Justin had enough money to purchase his very own UCAR. These are little 4 cylinder, mostly domestic (at Langley Speedway that is) front wheel drive cars that you see every day on the street for those who may not have known. Of course safety equipment is required (glass removal, roll cages, five point harness, helmet and a five point harness, I also believe at Langley a HANS or Hutchens device is required).

Deac McCaskill Was To Tough For The Build Tough 100 at East Carolina Motor Speedway

20140421-215546.jpgWell 2014 continues to be a year of firsts for myself, today, for the first time ever, one of my car’s belts broke. My pops and I are packed up, in the car; he is all excited to make the trip to see a new track for the first time, I go to back out my parking space and I have no power steering! Dad advises me to pull over really quick just to take a look, just to see if we see a leak or anything that could have caused it. Popped open the hood and what do we see… my serpentine belt for my power steering, alternator, and water pump had broken. I didn’t want to risk driving her to my wife’s work with no water pump so we called for a tow truck and was told it would be 30 minutes. Two hours later, this rinky-dink busted looking truck shows up, doesn’t like a comment I made about the time and tells me they don’t take cards and leave. We call another company who shows up in 10 minutes, the car gets taken care of and we are finally on the road by 5 PM…

Threat of Rain Forces South Boston to Pull the Plug: Another Touring Series Race Cancelled

HAMPTON, Va – Mother nature played spoiler to yet another event on our tour this year. Cant really say I am to surprised as this has even become the norm around the NASCAR circuit this year. Only thing we are missing at our local short tracks are the Air Titan systems! We got word that South Boston had pulled the plug on the evening when we were just about an hour away.

Gearing Up For Another Weekend Double Header!

east carolina

Okay race fans we have made it to the middle of the week, which means race day is right around the corner! For us this means another exciting double-header weekend! We will take to the ever so famous, well at least for my family, Route 58 as she will lead us to our two playgrounds this weekend. Friday evening we will pack up and head south to Robersonville, North Carolina for East Carolina Motor Speedway’s third race of their new season under NASCAR. Build Tough Builders has come on board for this race and is offering an extra $3,000 to the winner of the Build Tough 125 LMSC race. Think you have what it takes to tame this high back tri-oval? Make sure you pack up your stuff early and come battle with the likes of 2013 National Points runner-up & 2013 Southern National track champion Deac McCaskill, defending race winner Dillon Basset, as well as other local drivers!

Whelen Southern Modified Tour Powers Through Hampton

NWSMTNASCAR’s Whelen Southern Modified touring series rolled through the small town of Hampton, Virginia for their first visit of the year. Langley Speedway was the playground for these 625 horsepower, wide wheeled, low riding power houses! I was worried for a bit that I would miss the race for the most part because I had to work my regular job till 9pm that evening, well lucky for me the support classes took a bit longer than usual to finish their events. I was able to get to the track, park and get into the track just as the cars fired up their engines.
